Community Charitable Organisations
Since 2015 Roche (Pharmaceuticals) has been proud to provide annual financial support to the following four charitable organisations, as part of our commitment to supporting the local community: Sargood Foundation, StreetWork, South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club, and Royal Far West.
The Sargood Foundation’s vision is that all people affected by a spinal injury are provided with every opportunity to live life to the fullest. The Foundation’s key function is to raise funds to assist Sargood on Collaroy, an innovative holistic learning centre and resort. Due to be open in 2016, Sargood On Collaroy aims to equip people living with a spinal injury and their family with the skills, knowledge and confidence to live independently to their full potential. Roche is proud to assist Sargood Foundation to develop a new model of care with an innovative approach to holistic service delivery for its guests and their families. StreetWork is a charitable, community based organisation that focuses on prevention and early intervention strategies for ‘at risk’ young people. StreetWork has been operating since 1980 and has recently opened a new branch on Northern Beaches. Roche is committed to support the KickStart Mentoring Program that focuses on the most vulnerable young people and helps them to make better life choices, while reinstating their self-esteem and self-worth and helping them to turn their life around. Established in 1921, South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club (SNSLC) is one of the smallest surf clubs on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The Surf Club’s volunteer members are dedicated to patrolling the beach for over six months each year during the warm season as well as running an annual Bush to Beach program for which Roche has provided support. During Bush to Beach program 40 disadvantaged Aboriginal children are brought to the SNSLSC for a three days residential stay. The group participates in nipper events and beach patrols during which they gain an understanding of health and safety in marine environment. Royal Far West a non-government organisation that has been providing health services to children living in rural and remote New South Wales since 1924. Their vision is ‘healthy country children’. They achieve this by working in partnership with families and their local health and education providers to complement existing services within the community. Over the last two years Roche employees have raised over $18,000 for Royal Far West. The funds raised by Roche employees have been directed specifically to the Royal Far West Telecare program which supports children experiencing speech, language and communication difficulties.
