Herceptin (trastuzumab)

HERCEPTIN belongs to a group of medicines known as anti-neoplastic (or anti-cancer) agents. There are many different classes of anti-neoplastic agents. HERCEPTIN belongs to a new class called monoclonal antibodies. HERCEPTIN is used to treat a certain type of metastatic (spreading) breast cancer. The cancer cells of some patients with metastatic breast cancer have a large amount of a protein called HER2 on the cancer cells.
