Requests for Support

Roche receives grant* requests throughout the year from Healthcare professionals including support for educational meetings and research initiatives. All these requests are considered in accordance with Roche and industry guidelines at a quarterly meeting. Sometimes requests are made outside of these meetings for urgent cases.

Requests are assessed against criteria such as public expectations and standards, adherence to regulations and policies, qualifications of the requesting organisation, alignment with Roche’s area of focus, contribution to the quality use of medicine, scientific merit, and available funds.

All requests must be made on behalf of an organisation, not an individual or an organisation that presents only one individual. The person making the request must be affiliated with the organisation.

* A Grant is a financial or non-financial support for a specific activity that is independent and for which Roche does not receive any tangible benefit in return. Roche may provide a Grant/Donation for the purpose of supporting healthcare-related education, information, research and/or for the purpose of supporting patients and this support must always ultimately benefit patients and/or the public health. Grants may not be provided with the intent of promoting Roche Products or Services neither by Roche nor the recipient. Grants/Donations may not be used to advance a business objective.

Roche also receives requests for support from patient groups throughout the year. Support from Roche has funded activities including research projects, disease awareness programs, patient education materials and capacity building.

All financial support, and/or significant non-financial support provided by Roche to Health Consumer Organiastions (HCOs) is covered by a written agreement. Roche discloses on its website each year the names of Australian HCOs that have received support from Roche, as well as those HCOs that Roche has engaged to provide significant contracted services, in line with industry guidelines.

Roche recognises that patients sometimes need access to medicines outside of the established access pathways, such as for life-threatening diseases with limited approved options or for approved medicines not listed on the PBS or available via public hospitals. We realise that the absence of public funding for a prescribed medicine may represent a significant financial burden and difficult choice for many patients and their families. In situations where there is no public funding, Roche may be able to assist patients with alternative mechanisms of access to medicines, such as providing subsidies.

All requests for access in these circumstances must come to Roche via a patient’s treating healthcare professional.

Roche partners with not-for-profit organisations as part of our commitment to our local and global communities. We are currently partnering with Delta Society Australia, FareShare, Camp Quality, Sydney Children's Hospital Network and Orange Sky Australia. While our current partnerships are ongoing, Roche is happy to receive requests for funding.
